Hosting and analytics

The site is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may log IP addresses for security and abuse prevention. Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights collect aggregated, cookieless usage and performance statistics with no cross-site tracking.

Download statistics

When you download an image, we count it. A download records:

• the text and any second line on the image;
• the style, the background and whether the desktop or mobile layout was used;
• your browser language;
• your country, derived from your IP address;
• the hour of day, on your device and in UTC.

Your IP address and browser string are used only to form a tag that changes every day, so we can tell how many different people made a text. The IP address itself is never stored, and the daily key behind the tag is deleted after two days, after which the tag cannot be matched to anyone. Single download records are deleted after 31 days; only totals are kept.

Text blocked by the word filter is not recorded, and browsers that send Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track are not counted at all. The data is stored with our database provider, Upstash.

Feedback

Sending feedback files an issue in a private GitHub repository (GitHub Inc., USA). It contains your message, the generator's current state and your browser, screen size and language. Your IP address is used only to rate-limit the form, hashed and short-lived, and is never stored in the report.

Your own images

A background image you add from your own device is processed only in your browser. It is never uploaded to or stored on our servers.
